Member Paid but the Subscription Bot Granted No Access

If a member paid and your Telegram or Discord subscription bot did not grant access, work these checks in order. Start with payment status. Telegram and Discord do not share the same join path, so do not treat one platform's commands as the other.

1. Payment pending vs completed

The subscription bot grants access when the order is completed, not when the member taps pay.

  • If the order is still pending, wait. Do not grant access by hand until the provider marks the payment complete.
  • If PayPal shows Pending or holds the payment for review, access is granted only when PayPal is COMPLETED. See PayPal pending payments.

PayPal can delay before COMPLETED. Some payments sit in review before they clear.

Also check that PayPal auto-accepts the currency you charge. Currency mismatch is a common reason a payment stays pending.

2. Telegram /join vs Discord /claim

An order can be completed while the member still has not received access.

Confirm the membership is active with /memberships. Command reference: bot commands for members and admins.

3. Discord role hierarchy (Discord only)

The BotSubscription role must sit above the premium roles it assigns. After you move it, members with an active subscription can run /claim. This check does not apply to Telegram channels. Full steps: fix Discord role hierarchy.

4. Telegram invite permissions (Telegram only)

The bot needs administrator rights and Invite Users via Link in the paid channel. Telegram will not generate a join link without that permission. Discord role hierarchy does not apply here.

The live FAQ explains what Invite Link Permission Error means and lists the Telegram admin permissions the bot needs (Invite Users via Link and Ban Users).

5. Suspended subscription bot

A suspended bot stops processing payments and stops adding or removing users until the platform-fee balance is paid. The current unpaid window is 3 days after the usage report on subscription bot pricing. See what a suspended bot means.

Do not confuse this with a member free trial. Those are different clocks.

What not to mix up

  • Discord /claim is not a Telegram command. Telegram uses /join.
  • Member free trials are not the unpaid platform-fee window.
  • Telegram invite links and Discord roles are different access models.
